Whole Grain Snack Options to Recommend

Snack time can be an opportunity to help fill nutrient gaps or enjoy underconsumed food groups that clients may not get elsewhere in the diet. According to the 2020-2025 US Dietary Guidelines, 98% of Americans fall below the recommended 48 grams of whole grains daily.1 What better time to consider how snacks can help meet whole grain recommendations than during September Whole Grains Month?

Two snacks to add to the list of whole grain options you recommend are Smartfood® Popcorn and SunChips® Whole Grain Snacks!

Smartfood® makes great tasting, ready-to-eat popcorn with delicious ingredients – whole grain and gluten free air-popped popcorn. With 14 grams of whole grains per serving, the Smartfood® White Cheddar Flavored Popcorn is tossed in a classic white cheddar flavor and can be enjoyed on its own as a snack or as a great addition to any lunch.

SunChips® are made with 100% whole grains and come in delicious flavors like Garden Salsa®, Harvest Cheddar® and Chili Lime. And now there are NEW SunChips® made with whole grains and Black Beans! Wave hello to two varieties of SunChips® Black Bean, SunChips® Black Bean Spicy Jalapeño and SunChips® Black Bean Southwestern Queso – both made with real black beans to deliver a mouthwatering flavor and tasty crunch. With 14 grams of whole grains and 3 grams of fiber per serving, these two new varieties are a good source of fiber (contain 6g of total fat per 1 oz. serving), contain no artificial flavors or preservatives, and have 30% less fat than regular potato chips (Regular potato chips contain 10g of fat per 1 oz. serving. SunChips® Whole Grain Snacks contain 6g of fat per 1 oz. serving).
Heading to FNCE®? Stop by the PepsiCo booth #807 on Sunday, October 9th from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM to sample the new SunChips® Black Bean Spicy Jalapeño and SunChips® Black Bean Southwestern Queso!
